Context

🔎 Client Context

Urbassist, a start-up based in Nîmes and founded in 2018, is a digital solution for urban development works declaration. It complies with the ELAN law that digitized the construction permit's instruction from 2022 onwards. Besides completing administrative documents in a simple and guided way, it also allows creating all the necessary graphic documents for the dossier such as plans and simulations with tools that are suitable for individuals and professionals. The initial version of the solution was tested to validate its interest and functioning. Following this first testing phase, the team identified a need to streamline the declaration process to make it more accessible and less time-consuming, with the objective of increasing the number of completed and therefore sold dossiers. Urbassist trusted me to accompany them in this overhaul, which aimed to define the tool's target vision by outlining a framework capable of evolving by integrating new features later on.

Objectives

🎯 Objective: Turn an MVP into a solid product

🧨 Trigger: Beta testing of the solution revealed difficulties with accessibility and usability that caused losses during the user journey. The goal is to work on this for the official launch and the first partnership with Leroy Merlin.

  • Assumption:

    • Reference tool "official software"

  • KPIs to monitor for evaluating the success of the mission:

    • Reduce the time spent on the declaration → target of 25min/file

    • Accessible user journey → eliminate as many frictions as possible and reduce cognitive load

Challenge

Flattening and reorganizing a long, detailed, and technical journey

  • User testing with a mason who is not comfortable with technology and has reading difficulties

  • Defining a vision with a flexible framework so that the solution can evolve over time with the addition of new features and journeys

Our company Urbassist aims to facilitate and modernize the administrative procedures for construction permits. As our core business generates little enthusiasm, we had to propose an attractive and rigorous digital tool. Through our partnership with Johan, we were able to identify key steps to collect inputs from our clients in order to draft an ideal workflow and thus generate the deliverable by optimizing client trust. This work with Johan went far beyond a "simple" mockup with a long iterative and caring process, based on quick and efficient communication.
